Four talented Pakuranga College students recently had their artwork featured in a gallery display!

Allison Chen with “The Depth of Emotions”, Jhanu Ragunathan with “Twin Flames Eventually Run Out of Time”, Mikayla Wilson with “Stress of Beauty”, and Pavani Chawla with “Glowing in Motion” all had their pieces selected to showcase in Howick Youth Councils’ Visual Arts Showcase.

Celebrating the art of our rangatahi, the showcase took place at Uxbridge Arts and Culture from September to October.

Mikayla Wilson’s artwork won the People’s Choice Award last week and she was ecstatic, saying “I did this artwork for fun, but I’ve easily spent over 20 hours on it.

“I wasn’t expecting the win, it really feels great,” she said.

Encouraged to do the showcase by her teacher Calla Tung, she’s also received some requests from possible buyers.

“It was always my intention to sell the piece, but I wasn’t expecting to get offers for nearly as much,” she said.

She’s aiming for a sale price of $700, which she says is well within reach. Congratulations to all the artists featured – onwards to even bigger galleries!
