Welcoming Homestays

Our New Zealand homestay families are waiting to welcome you to Auckland! We carefully match international students with homestay accommodation and families to ensure a good fit that will make your time in New Zealand even more enjoyable.

All our homestay families live in the local area, making the journey to school quick and convenient. You will have your own bedroom, allowing you privacy and a quiet environment to study; plus fibre internet makes keeping in contact with home easy.

Our dedicated Homestay Co-ordinators are on-call 24/7 to answer any questions you or your family may have before and during your stay. They will also report regularly to parents about how students are settling in.

Who Can I Live With?

When studying at Pakuranga College, international students may choose one of the following options for accommodation:

Live with a school-approved homestay family
Stay with a parent who can apply for a guardian visa to accompany them to New Zealand. Work is not permitted while in New Zealand on a guardian visa.
Stay with a family member or close family friend known to the student’s parents. This person is called a designated caregiver.

Students cannot live alone, or in accommodation shared with friends, even if they are over 18.

“This is my first time living away from home and I’m really enjoying my homestay. I’m staying in a house with two other Pakuranga College international students – a girl from Italy and a girl from Brazil – and we hang out every day. It’s great, like having siblings! It keeps me busy and I don’t have time to miss home too much. We go to the shopping mall at Botany, or the gym, and watch movies together. It’s nice to have others in a similar situation to talk with.”
