The annual Eastern Zone Speech Competition was hosted by Botany Downs Secondary College on the evening of Thursday 29 August. Six local high schools competed in the competition and once again the standard of speeches was very high.
Two talented junior students represented Pakuranga College in the competition. The Year 9 and 10 finalists were the winners of our inter-class Junior Speech Competition held in Week 4 of this term. Year 9 student, Leah Marais (Pōhutukawa), presented a topical, impactful, and engaging speech about gender inequality in professional sports. Year 10 student, Lydia Lamb (Rimu), presented a passionate and thought-provoking speech about the impact of the fashion industry. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and to represent their school with pride.
