To kickstart our Year 13 Business students’ entrepreneurial journey, a Spark Tank Sprint was held at Pakūranga College last week. This speed coaching event tasked students with delivering an elevator pitch of their Young Enterprise Scheme business idea to a business professional who then provided thoughtful insight and feedback.

Young Enterprise Scheme representative Elizabeth Nicholson oversaw the event, while students pitched to local coaches from around the area. Some of our speed coaches included:

  • Vynce Santos, Aryan Bhatia, and Eddie Boysen – all Pakuranga College alumni
  • Evelyn Body, General Manager of Intellectual Property at Xero
  • Marcus Wofinden, Executive General Manager of Network Operations at Chorus
  • Phillip Schmidt, Acting Board Member

This was the final opportunity for students to revaluate their business plans before they move into the production phase, so the stakes were very high!

Students’ pitches included playing cards to help learn the road code, a cultural mythology colouring book, and beeswax food wraps, among others. Best of luck to our students in their business endeavours and thank you to all our wonderful coaches for your generosity with your time.
