Last week, we hosted an informative Talanoa Night for our Pasifika families and students, exploring academic pathways beyond school.

This term’s theme for Talanoa was Pathways. The Pasifika Development Team at Pakuranga College wanted our Pasifika whānau to have exposure to the opportunities available to their children. The night was organised and run by our Pasifika Leaders. The guest speakers were our very own Mrs Tomlinson and Ms O’Neil. Mrs Tomlinson spoke about the new Learner Profile at the college and requirements around literacy credits.

Ms. O’Neill, our Head of Careers, spoke about academic and vocational pathways, requirements for university entrance, and Pasifika scholarships.

We ended the night with a shared kai, two lovely performances from our Cook Island and Fijian cultural groups, and to top that all off – Joey Breed presented his Polyfest speech from Term 1 (for which he placed 3rd).

On behalf of the Pasifika Development Team, Pakuranga College, and our Pasifika Leaders – we would like to thank you for your continued support in this space.
