Year 11 students Sam Kavumbura, Ashlee Segedin, Gabriella Frantz, Blake Elliott, Max Hewin, Lily Pearce, Maia Panton, and Doris Wang were busy cultivating their green thumbs in the second half of 2023! This dedicated team embarked on a mission to contribute to a more sustainable future by planting over 900 tree seedlings through the Trees for Survival project.
Their efforts resulted in the planting of:
- 189 Ti Kouka/Cabbage Trees
- 167 Harakeke/Flax
- 118 Karamu/Coprosma
- 155 Manuka
- 126 Kanuka
- 200 other species
Mrs Collier had this to say about these astounding students:
“They have been the roots, trunk and branches of the Trees for Survival programme in 2023. Without these dedicated students who spend their lunchtimes transplanting seedlings, we would not have a full greenhouse. These trees will be cared for until August this year when they will be planted as part of the Trees for Survival environmental restoration efforts in Clevedon.”
