From January 28th to 30th, we had the pleasure of welcoming our new International Students to Pakuranga College through our orientation programme.
This year we had students welcomed from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, China, and Japan.
On the first day, students were placed in diverse groups to encourage them to connect with peers from different backgrounds. They took part in a range of activities, including a scavenger hunt around the school.
January 29th featured guest speakers from the community, who introduced themselves and shared insights about the area. Students then had the chance to sign up for co-curricular and sports activities happening throughout the year.
Our first official school day on January 30th began with a pōwhiri to warmly welcome our international students into the school community. They then met their Whānau Groups and spent time getting to know their classmates.
The orientation was very well received by the international students, who all are very excited to start their journeys in Aotearoa.
“I liked being in groups with students from other countries and the scavenger hunt around school was fun.”
