Associate Principal

Full Time, Permanent Position

Pakuranga College is a large (2,200+ students), co-educational, culturally diverse secondary school located in Pakuranga, East Auckland. Deputy Principal

Full Time, Permanent Position

Pakuranga College is a large (2,200+ students), coeducational, culturally diverse secondary school located in Pakuranga, East Auckland. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated senior leadership team, as a Deputy Principal. The leadership skills required in our new Deputy Principal will be based on strong relationship skills and a commitment to excellence. The appointee will be a person of integrity and experience who values excellence in education and who is able to contribute to an innovative leadership team.

Head of Business

Full Time, Permanent Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative leader for our Commerce Department, which is within our Social Sciences Faculty. The faculty is very well-resourced, and your leadership would be required in Commerce, Business Studies, Economics, and Accounting.

The position will commence as soon as possible. Applications close Tuesday 16 July.

Guidance Counsellor

4 Days Per Week – Fixed Term Position

Pakuranga College is seeking to employ a registered Guidance Counsellor to work in our Guidance and Hauora Team. This is a fixed-term position for 32 hours per week (4 days), until 13 December 2024.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Individual Employment Agreement for school employees whose work does not fall within the coverage clause of a collective agreement. Remuneration will be based on experience.

As a member of our energetic, creative and caring team, you will play an integral role in promoting and supporting wellbeing throughout the wider school community and empowering our rangatahi to be the best they can.

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Counselling students from Year 9 – 13
  • Building relationships with students, caregivers, staff and the wider community
  • Promoting emotional and mental wellbeing, self-confidence and resilience
  • Working alongside our youth workers, nurses, mentors, Whānau Leaders and Senior Leadership Team
  • Supporting students and whanau through the discipline process
  • Engaging with appropriate supervision
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and data

The successful applicant will have:

  • Provisional or full membership of NZAC or similar
  • Empathy, tolerance and diplomacy
  • The ability to remain calm and in control
  • A proven history of working with young people
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines
  • A can-do attitude

Kaiārahi Māori

Fixed-Term Position, Term Time Only

Pakuranga College is seeking to employ a Kaiārahi Māori to join our Pastoral Care Faculty. This is a fixed-term position until 13 December 2024 for 30 hours per week during secondary term time.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade BC and the hourly rate will be based on experience.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Academic mentoring, building and maintaining relationships with students and whānau.
  • Participating in and organising the Māori Development Team initiatives.
  • Oversight of communication and promotion of opportunities and events within the college, including attending these events.
  • Supporting co-curricular activities such as kapa haka.
  • Growing the capacity of students participating in pōwhiri (karanga and whaikōrero).
  • Supporting students to celebrate, promote and embrace Māori culture and language.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Confident in Te Reo me ōna tikanga Māori.
  • Knowledge of kaupapa Māori frameworks and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Higher education or experience working in a school.

Social Sciences Teacher

Full Time, Fixed Term
Start date: 22 July 2024, end date: 27 September 2024

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative teacher to join the Social Studies team in our well-resourced Social Sciences Faculty, commencing Term 3. You will work in a collaborative supportive team. This could suit either a beginning teacher or someone returning to the profession. Experience teaching Geography would be an advantage. If you have a senior subject, please state this in your application.
