Student Services Assistant - Attendance
Permanent Position, Term Time Only
Pakūranga College is seeking to employ a Student Services Assistant for Attendance to work in our Student Reception alongside the Student Services Administrator. This position sits within our Administration Team. This is a permanent position for 37.5 hours per week 8am to 4pm during secondary term time.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade 3 and the hourly rate will be based on experience.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Providing Student Reception counter service
- Attendance data entry
- Leave passes and late arrivals
- TXT messaging for unexplained non attendance
- Parent/caregiver contact
- Follow up on outstanding roll information
- Back up of Health Centre – designated First Aider
- Support and assist Whānau Leaders
- Lost property
- Relief teacher roll information and data entry
- Provide attendance reports and information for Whānau Leaders and Deputy Principals
The successful applicant will have:
- Empathy, tolerance and diplomacy
- The ability to remain calm and in control
- A proven history of working with young people
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written
- Flexibility to assist in other areas of the Administration Team
- Excellent computer skills
- Planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines
- Current first aid certificate (training provided)
- A can-do attitude
We use Kamar as our Student Management System. This is a fast-paced, busy role.

Guidance Counsellor
Full time, Permanent
We are seeking to employ a registered guidance counsellor to work in our well established Guidance and Hauora Team. This is a permanent position for 40 hours per week, commencing in Term 2 (to be negotiated).
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Individual Employment Agreement for school employees whose work does not fall within the coverage clause of a collective agreement. Remuneration will be based on experience.
As a member of our energetic, creative and caring team, you will play an integral role in promoting and supporting hauora throughout the wider school community and empowering our rangatahi to be the best they can.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Counselling rangatahi from Year 9-13
- Building relationships with rangatahi, whānau, staff and the wider community
- Identifying, developing and delivering appropriate hauora programmes
- Working alongside our youth workers, health centre, whānau leaders and senior leadership team
- Supporting rangatahi and whānau through the discipline process
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Engaging with appropriate supervision
The successful applicant will have:
- A qualification in Counselling with registration from NZAC, DAPAANZ or similar
- Experience in risk assessment and using a range of therapeutic models with rangatahi
- Experience in working across multiple external agencies and community groups
- Experience in restorative practices would be highly desirable
- The ability to remain calm when working under pressure
- Excellent administrative and communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
- A can-do attitude
